PEDESTRIAN KILLED IN GRANTSVILLE

(06/01/2005)

A pedestrian was killed shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday on Rt. 5 west at the Grantsville town limits, after a woman allegedly was attempting to run across the road.

Sources at the scene indicated the woman was about 30-years-old.

The woman, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was reportedly a Glenville resident who had been recently staying with friends in Grantsville.

The driver of the vehicle attempted to avoid hitting the woman, according to an eyewitness at the scene.

Traffic in Grantsville was somewhat heavier, with preparations being made for the annual Wood Festival.

Calhoun EMS quickly responded to the scene and transported the victim to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center.

The Medical Examiner was notified.

Chief Deputy Ron Bandy and the State Police are investigating the fatality.
