Authorities tow away a Ford Escort, apparently linked to the murder

Three Roane County residents have been arrested on one count of murder, which reportedly took place in or near Spencer.

Arrested and being held in Central Regional Jail are, Raymond Elswick, 40, Joey Hicks, 27, and his his wife, Crystal R. Hicks, 26.

Authorities have yet to release the name of the victim.

Details of the murder have not been made available, but local law enforcement and the State Police have been investigating the crime overnight.

Officers and the State Police Crime Lab were at a house adjacent to the United Methodist Memorial Church this morning on Market Street, two blocks from Spencer's Main Street.

Unconfirmed reports indicate the victim may have been killed in the basement of the house, and may have been dumped in a rural area off U. S. 119, south of Spencer.
