POSTELWAIT WANTS JURY TRIAL IN SLAPPING CASE

(05/26/2005)
Deposed chairperson of the Clay-Roane PSD, Melissa Postelwait, has postponed her battery case before Clay magistrate Jeff Boggs, by requesting a jury trial.

Witnesses were ready to tesify and move the case forward this week, but the case was put on hold until some time in August after Postelwait made the request.

The battery charge was filed against Postelwait for slapping board member Susan Beard.

Postelwait, who fought to hold her position, has been relegated to being a board member.

Some PSD members have claimed that Postelwait received advanced cash payments from public funds, indicating she did not repay some of them.

The Clay Commission has appointed some new board members in hopes of re-grouping the PSD.

Beard, Roane County's only representative, has remained on the board.
