Julia Myrtle Coen Martin, 89 - Chloe

(05/23/2005)
Julia Myrtle Coen Martin, 89, of Chloe, West Virginia, passed into eternal rest May 20, 2005 at the home of Ron and Lois Cummings, her long time caregivers since December 2004.

She was born June 22, 1915 at Elana, Roane County and was a daughter of the late Samuel and Rushia Sharp Drake. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters, as well as her first husband, Denver Coen to whom she was married for 50 years. They had 2 sons, Dallas Ray Coen of Richmond, Virginia and Delmer Crawford Coen of Cambridge, Ohio; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In later years she was married to Willis Martin who also preceded her in death.

She attended the Mud Fork Union Church for 65 years and was the oldest living member. She was known and loved by many people. She always had a piece of candy or gum for all the children she came in contact with. If you visited her home during the harvest of fruit and vegetables you probably left with whatever she had available. If you visited during the off season you probably left with a pot holder, cushion top or even a silly looking hat she gave away sometimes to complete strangers, all made with her loving hands.

She had a good life on this earth and has begun her new life in heaven in God's loving hands. There she will wait for her family to join her soon.

Her sons, Ray and Delmer, offer a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Roane General Hospital who attended to our mother during her illness. A special thanks to long time friends Donna and Eugene Bailey who visited her so often and gave her a surprise birthday party last year. Our utmost thanks and appreciation to Ron and Lois Cummings for providing care and comfort in their home for Mom while she lived out her last few months, you are special people, we cannot thank you enough.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28 at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Rev. Darius Arnold will officiate. Interment will be in the Clover Cemetery at Spencer. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
