Some of the players looked good, at least for a little while at Saturday's oldtimers softball game at Wayne Underwood Field.

It was a fund-raiser for the girl's softball league, with a wide array of local "oldtimers" including Calhoun County Sheriff Carl Ballengee.

Coaches for the teams, Trooper 1st Class Jeff Hunt and Chief Deputy Ron Bandy.

Some looked stiff and crooked when they batted and trotted out to first base.

Some grimaced with pain and put on edgy smiles when they sped around the bases.

Some presented 40 plus profiles with t-shirt covered bellies, but hid their thinning hair with those wonderful baseball caps.

Some had to ask for runners after they got on base, accepting their out-of-shape condition.

But without exception, come Sunday, it is likely they were running down to the store for Absorbine Junior.

It was great fun, and some of the guys and gals really hit that ball into the outfield.
