BAKER AND CARTWRIGHT RECOGNIZED FOR VOLUNTEER WORK - CHS Student Expelled By Board |

| At Monday evenings Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Ron Blankenship presented recognition awards to Larry Baker and Greg Cartwright for their volunteer work with technology at Calhoun Middle-High School. The board entered into executive session to conduct a student expulsion hearing. Upon the Superintendent's recommendation, the board unanimously voted to expel a student for one calendar year. Michele Scott from the Education Alliance and Shanda Casto from Columbia Gas Transmissions presented a mini-grant to Faye Chambers for $329.64. Emilio Garza, Calhoun Middle-High School principal, and Local School Improvement Council members Kelley Houchin, Lisa Price-Buchanan, and Tammy Nichols and Faculty Senate members Terry Goodnight, Karen Kirby and Sharon Pitts discussed the USIP with the Board. Sharon Pitts, Faculty Senate President, described how the Faculty Senate was involved in school improvement. An out-of-state transportation request for the band to King's Island Amusement Park in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 10-11 was approved.
