WHOPPER OF A SNAKE - Ritchie Assessor Said "Part Of The Job"

(05/12/2005)

Ratliff did not go so far as to measure the varmint, but it was a "dandy"

It surely was a startling experience for Ritchie County Assessor Arlene Mossor and Field Deputy Ed Ratliff to stumble on this whoppin' rattlesnake while they were out viewing property on Tuesday.

"We came upon the creature lying across the road," said Ratliff, who took the photos.

The snake was located off Laurel Run, Route 47, near Smithville.

"The snake appeared to be blind, its eyes totally colorless," Ratliff said, indicating it might have been shedding.
