James Paul Maze, 76 - Granite N.C, formerly Brohard

James Paul Maze, 76, of Granite N.C., formerly of Brohard, died May 8, 2005, at Caldwell County Hospice.

He was born Dec. 14, 1928, in Wirt County, W.Va., to the late Lawrence Calvin and Ollie Kemp Maze. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Maze; and a sister, Geraldine Maze.

Mr. Maze was retired from Woodlake Apartments and was a taxidermist for several years. He was a member of Hartley Church of Christ in Brohard.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marilyn Kinney Maze; four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Nancy Maze of St. Cloud, Fla., Lew and Holly Maze of Belmont, W.Va., William (Sam) and Monica Maze of Palm Bay, Fla., and Scott and Cynthia Maze of Travis Air Force Base, Calif.; three daughters and a son-in-law, Beth Petters of West Melbourne, Fla., Paula and Tim Dunn of Lenoir, N.C., and Mary Maze of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Virgil H. Maze of Brohard; a sister, Mrs. Louise Snider of Parkersburg, 14 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Hartley Cemetery in Brohard conducted by the Rev. Tom Butterfield. The family received friends Monday evening at the Greer-McElveen Funeral Home, Lenoir, N.C.
