ROBERTS YOUTH OUT OF ICU - Condition Slowly Improving

(05/02/2005)
Fourteen-year-old Jonathan Roberts is slowing improving in Charleston General Hospital, recovering from multiple trauma suffered in a truck accident last Thursday on Sycamore Road.

He has been moved from ICU to a regular hospital room.

Family members said Roberts walked three steps at the direction of physicians, saying his broken hip will not likely require surgery.

Family members say he is recovering from "blunt trauma to his spleen and liver."

Roberts is the son of Keith and Cheryl Roberts of Sycamore. He was airlifted to Charleston Thursday evening following a truck accident on Sycamore Rd. in which 15-year-old Randy Brannon was killed.

Family members, including his grandparents Gary and Sue Roberts of Millstone, have been at his bedside.

Both Roberts and Brannon are students at Calhoun-Middle High School.
