BARNES RUN WOMAN CRITICALLY INJURED IN JACKSON COLLISION

(04/30/2005)
Barnes Run resident Melva Stroup was injured in a two-vehicle collision Saturday in Jackson County, sending her to Charleston Area Medical Center. Also in the vehicle was her son, Chuck Stroup.

Ms. Stroup is reportedly in critical condition in ICU, undergoing emergency surgery at 7 p.m. Chuck Stroup was also injured, CAMC saying he is "under evaluation."

A family spokesperson said after the collision, the Stroup vehicle went over an embankment and landed against a fence.

Melva Stroup has been a longtime, stalwart member of the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church. Melva and her late husband Charlie retired to the community about 25 years ago, after he served with the Akron Fire Department.
