James Leo Giar, 66 - Orma

James Leo Giar, 66, of Orma, West Virginia, formerly of Elyria, Ohio, passed away April 26, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.

Born in Charlotte, Michigan, he was a son of the late Leo S. and Geneva Louise Paton Giar. He lived in Ohio early in life and graduated from Spencer High School, Spencer, Ohio with the class of 1956. He worked at the Chronicle Telegram at Elyria, Ohio for 37 1/2 years starting in 1957 and retiring in 1994. He also worked for the Chicago Tribune and the Madison Times of Madison, Wisconsin all as a press room superintendent.

Surviving are his wife, Carol Graham Giar and 9 children, Carla and Ron Graham, James H. and Missy Giar, Mike E. Giar of Ashland, Ohio, Charlotte Giar and Joyce Corns all of Elyria, Dana M. Giar and Jaymes Giar at home, Anita Jett of Amherst, Ohio, and Regina Bailey of Saltville, Virginia; 5 grandchildren, Rachelle Corns, John Shank, Jr., Chelsie Giar, Zoe Giar of Elyria, and Indy Ann Settle of Orma; 1 brother Linden and Elaine Giar of Red Wing Minnesota; 1 sister, Pat Stokes of New London, Ohio; his beloved Poodles, Fatso, Lady Bug, Snoopy, Roxie, Sugar Baby and Snuggles.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Judy Yeaples and Sharon Yeager; 2 brothers, Hubert and Bill Mitchell; and an infant son, Michael Warren Giar.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Rev. Rick Swearingen will officiate.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Saturday until the time of the services.
