METH EXPLOSION RATTLES RAVENSWOOD GARBAGE WORKERS

(04/21/2005)
Meth explosions continue to rattle West Virginia, from the State Police barracks in Spencer to fires in Charleston and Nitro.

Seven Ravenswood maintenance workers were treated for exposure to methamphetamine materials after a bag of trash caught on fire in a garbage truck Wednesday.

Three workers were working on the truck picking up trash when one of the workers tossed a bag into the truck and it ignited, according to Mayor Clair Roseberry.

The workers drove the truck while it was on fire about four blocks to a city garage where some other workers helped extinguish the blaze.

All seven workers were treated and released from a local hospital.

One man has been arrested. Ravenswood police and drug enforcement officers from Parkersburg are still investigating the incident.
