BOARD PROCESSES PERSONNEL ISSUES - Approves New Graduation Policy

The Calhoun Board of Education went into executive session Tuesday evening to discuss the re-hiring of Superintendent Ron Blankenship. The board then voted 4-1 to give Blankenship a one-year contract at his current salary of $81,000 and benefits. Board member Cynthia Dale voted against the contract.

Blankenship gave a report on legislative items (SEE earlier Hur Herald story).

A new Graduation Policy and Promotion/Retention Policy was approved.

Approved a home school request for Dustin Adkins (grade 9), a request to use the school for an polling purposes on June 25, math textbook recommendations, and a work/overtime policy.

Following a teacher request to be excluded from the board's transfer list and a hearing conducted in an executive session, upon the Superintendent's recommendation, Mr. Fitzwater moved and Mr. Harris seconded that Carla Taylor's request to be removed from the transfer list be denied. Motion carried unanimously.

Medical Leave of Absence - Sandra Lancaster (effective April 15, 2005)
Retirement - Jacob Bruce Jarrell (effective April 15, 2005)
