The Planning Committee for Teen Fest 2005 has been jumping hurdles all winter trying to stay one step ahead of the unexpected. There have been several changes and setbacks but everyone remains committed to the cause and this years event holds a world of promise.

Teen Fest, sponsored by 20 local churches in Calhoun, Gilmer, and Roane counties, will kick off at 12 noon on May 14th at the Calhoun County Park and and come to a close at noon on the 15th.

These 24 hours are packed full of activities designed to create an environment that teenagers can enjoy worship, entertainment, and fellowship and a safe environment. All teens, 13-18, are invited to experience this gathering and join their peers in "Blazing a Trail" toward a closer relationship with our Lord.

This year's retreat will include two bands specializing in contemporary gospel music. The group "1 Point 25" from Huntington will perform from 3-4 p.m. and the group "Higher Ground" will come up from Beckley and share their talents starting at 6:30 p.m. Other events planned throughout the day include outdoor relay activities, several craft projects, a Magician, a dance and drama team, lunch, dinner, breakfast, and a bonfire.

Dennis Craig, a very dynamic evangelist and youth leader from Pittsburgh, will share the Word with everyone on Saturday evening, and again during Sunday School and Worship the following morning.

Registration forms can be filled out at the park on the morning of the 14th or you can pre-register by obtaining a form from your Pastor. These are a requirement and must be signed by a parent or guardian.

Besides the registration forms, there are no other requirements to attend. You do not have to belong to a church or attend one anywhere. If you're just curious about God, or your reaffirming your faith this is a good way to fill that need.

If you have any question or need a registration form you can call Rick Metheney at 354-6277, Kevin Church at 354-6066, or Mary Zimmer at 354-6012. If you would like to volunteer to help call Dave Trippett at 354-9341.
