FAMILY COURT COULD LEASE KHOURY BUILDING - Commission Seeking New 911 Director

The Calhoun Commission reviewed a proposal by the State Supreme Court to use the Khoury Building in Grantsville for Family Court. The proposed project is being funded by the state.

The Commission opened bids for a 911 radio tower, but at least one bidder requested better technical specifications, and the project will be re-bid.

The Commission decided to advertise for a 911 Director, whose hiring will be recommended by the 911 Advisory Board. The non-paid position has been open since the resignation of Joe Tanner.

A final draw-down was approved for the MOVRC related to the Yellow Creek-Back Fork water project and efforts continue to apply for several different grants.

The upcoming June 25th special election which would allow the state to consolidate pension funds to save money will require the appointment of poll workers and the designation of polling sites. The Commission will complete the election work at a meeting on May 3 at 9 a.m.

Diane Ludwig of the LKADC was appointed to the Bel-Mar Council to represent Calhoun County.

Darren Feit of Gilmer County addressed the Commission requesting copies of the county's 911 maps to help with flood planning in the Little Kanawha watershed. The Commission approved giving Feit's group copies of the maps.

Other routine business was conducted.

A special meeting is scheduled to set levy rates on April 19 at 9.a.m.
