EMERGENCY WATER GRANT FOR TOWN OF CAIRO

(04/09/2005)
Acting State Director Richard E. Satterfield today announced that Rural Development has approved grant funding in the amount of $42,600 for the Town of Cairo in Ritchie County.

The assistance will be made through the Rural Utilities Emergency Community Water Assistance Grant (ECWAG) program, which is used solely for emergency type projects.

Rural Development funds will be used to relocate and replace the main waterline that supplies public water service to the Town's 181 customers.

"The project will be a permanent solution to an emergency situation involving waterline ruptures and disruptions of service," stated Satterfield.
