GLENVILLE STATE FIELD GETS SUPER TURF - Morris Family Funds $600,000 Purchase

(05/25/2001)
"Better than WVU. Better than Marshall." Glenville State College will have a new $600,000 turf on their football field, compliments of Glenville businessman Ike Morris and his wife Sue. GSC coach Paul Shaffner said the turf is a state-of-the-art product produced by Turf USA, and is considered to be the finest in the country.

Shaffner says the turf is simulated grass, unlike other artificial surfaces. It is not affected by rain nor will it burn athletes when they fall.

The field is used by Gilmer High School, other schools and for community functions. GSC President Thomas Powell said the new field will be a tremendous recruiting tool.
