UNDERWOOD MUSEUM PLANS UNVEILED - Support Needed For Project

Progress on the Wayne Underwood Museum has been slowly moving, according to CHS alumni Ox Johnson.

"We are looking for additional financial support for the project," said Johnson, who visited the site this past week.

Johnson, Loyd Wright and school board finance officer Connie Roberts met with Underwood's son, Sidney Underwood, to show him the drawings for the project.

The project, which includes 36 box seats, is expected to become a permanent addition to the Calhoun Middle-High School athletic complex. It will be located next to the press box.

It will also include space for athletic displays.

The rent from the box seats is expected to help athletic programs at the school.

Johnson reports donations to date total slightly over $8000.

"We are still anticipating donations from former players, students, associates, businesses or friends of Underwood," he said. Johnson says his group has received several offers of memorabilia from the Underwood years for inclusion in the museum. "But we're still looking for more."

All donations are tax deductible.
