WALTON PSD GETS $48,000 GRANT

Morgantown, WV - State Director Jenny Phillips today announced that Rural Development approved a Water and Waste Disposal Grant of $48,000 for Walton Public Service District, Roane County. Rural Development funds will be used to construct approximately 35,800 linear feet of water line extensions. "This improvement to the water system will serve 55 new users in the Green Creek, Poca Road and Robinson Run areas of Roane County," stated Phillips. This is subsequent funding which completes a total Rural Development funding package of $548,000. A loan of $100,000 and grant of $400,000 were previously obligated in Fiscal Year 2001. Rural Development serves as the lead Federal entity for rural development needs and administers program assistance through its rural housing programs, rural business programs, and rural utilities programs.
