Three online courses and one day tabletop are currently available through the West Virginia Prepares: HRSA Continuing Education Partnership Project

WVU's VMC®/Homeland Security Programs is offering up to six free hours of CME/CEU credits. The VMC currently offers three free online bio-terrorism training and preparedness courses developed through support from the Health Resources Service Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The self-paced courses provide training in terrorism recognition and reporting, multidisciplinary response, and acute care needs of patients from weapons of mass destruction events. The courses target the training and preparedness needs of healthcare professionals, emergency responders, and public health professionals.

A one-day, bio-terrorism, tabletop, interdisciplinary training exercise will be held in each WV Area Health Education Center (AHEC) region to provide a culminating hands-on experience for target learners.

Up to 200 participants in each region can participate. The tabletop training will build on the web-based training provided through the project. The project partner for this activity is Community Research Associates (CRA). CRA has extensive experience in providing training exercise for the full spectrum of response communities of practice.

Each course is approximately two hours in length. Each of the free Tabletop Exercises is approximately six hours in length with lunch included. Information about the courses and the tabletop can be accessed at www.vmc.wvu.edu/hrsa

The Tabletop Exercises are set for April 7 in Charleston, April 21 in Lewisburg, May 5 in Shepherdstown, and May 25 in Fairmont. Please visit the website for complete information and to register.

Participants can earn free CME/CEU credits by completing the courses then participating in one of the Tabletop Exercises.
