Sylvia Minney, 95 - Stumptown

Sylvia Minney, 95, of Stumptown, West Virginia, passed away March 4, 2005 at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center's Long Term Care Unit after a long illness. She was born January 16, 1910 to the late George and Sarah Wilson Campbell.

Surviving are two sons, Harry Oren and Alma of Stumptown, Earl Ralph and Sandra of LaGrange, Ohio; three daughters, Virgie Harris of Stumptown, Verla Simons and Rex of Medina, Ohio and Marguerite Stump of Grantsville; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty two years Earl Minney; five brothers, five sisters, and one great granddaughter.

Sylvia accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and joined Albert's Chapel at Sand Ridge. She attended Rush Run Baptist Church for over seventy years. She was a charter member of the Rush Run Farm Women's Club (CEOS) and continued as an active member for over sixty years. She had been employed at Grantsville Dry Cleaners, Smith's Grocery, and retired from Garlands Grocery in Grantsville. She loved to quilt and many people have been the recipient of her beautiful quilts.

Sylvia was a loving and caring provider for her family. She also came to the aid of many in need. On several occasions she provided a home for nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters. Sylvia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a friend to all and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 8 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Rev. Jon Vannoy and Rev. Harry Siers will officiate. Interment will be in the Sand Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services.
