ARNOLDSBURG RD. HOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE - May Family Homeless

(02/04/2005)

Fire trucks pumped water across creek to house

Fire completely destroyed an Arnoldsburg Rd. house last night along U. S. 33-119, a short distance from the Calhoun-Roane line.

Gregory May, his wife and two children were apparently away from their residence at 2370 Arnoldsburg Rd. when the fire erupted. Neighbors called 911 and the Spencer-Roane VFD quickly responded to the blaze at 7 p.m.

There was a problem getting fire trucks close to the residence because of a creek.

Neighbors referred to the structure as the "old Bowers homestead," but May had lived their for three or four years.
