ROLLOVERS AND WRECKS CAUSED BY ICY ROADS - One Injured In Hog Knob Hill

One accident after another was reported Saturday night, with two vehicles involved in rollovers and at least two individuals were taken to the hospital.

County roads were described as a "sheet of ice," by Cpl. Doug Starcher of the WV State Police.

Sheriff Carl Ballengee said all county residents should say off the highways Saturday night, except in cases of emergency.

Cpl. Starcher closed Jackson Hill at 11:30 p.m. because of stalled cars or cars in the ditch.

A car rolled-over on its top crashing near the Millstone interesection on Rt. 16 at 11:10 p.m. The Arnoldsburg VFD reported that one of the occupants was entrapped in the vehicle, but driver Dawn Fox removed herself from the vehicle. She was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center for evaluation, not seriously injured.

Sheriff Carl Ballengee responded to the Millstone scene and Calhoun EMS dispatched two ambulances.

Freezing rain and sleet led to a single-vehicle accident on Hog Knob Hill shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday.

The vehicle went out of control landing on its top, injuring at least one person. That persons was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center.

That victim was taken to WVU Medical Center, reportedly for treatment of a neck injury.

The accident happened up the hill from the Bull River Road intersection, an area well-known for mishaps.

Calhoun EMS responded with the Grantsville VFD.

An accident was reported at the same time on Jackson Hill, Rt. 16 at Five Forks, where a vehicle reportedly slid into the embankment.
