MAN SHOT IN FOOT IN DRIVE-BY - A Dunbar man was shot in the foot in a drive-by shooting at a busy intersection this week.

Jamon Lewis Woodson, 21, allegedly fired a .45-caliber handgun from one vehicle to another. One of the rounds hit Robert Miller in the right foot. He was treated and released.

Dunbar police found seven shell casings on the street in front of the Aldi grocery store.

Woodson was charged with malicious wounding and carrying a concealed weapon.

Police arrested a second man, and allegedly found 26.9 grams of marijuana in his pocket, two grams of cocaine and a .45-caliber Glock handgun.

18-YEAR-OLD GIRLFRIEND SHOT - A man accused of fatally shooting his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend while her five-month-old daughter was nearby, has been convicted of first-degree murder. in Beckley.

A Raleigh County jury found 20-year-old Dallas Hughes guilty in the murder Sacha Michelle Mitchell. He will be sentenced to life in prison with mercy.

CHARLESTON MAYOR FIRES POLICE CHIEF - After a critical year of knife and gun activity in Charleston, Mayor Danny Jones fired his police chief Jerry Pauley and named Lt. Brent Webster today to be in charge.

At age 35, Webster is the city's youngest police chief.

Dissatisfaction with the way the police department was coping with a series of murders, drug crimes and other problems on the West Side (11 murders last year and several hundred knife and gun incidents) was one reason Jones asked former Police Chief Pauley for his resignation.
