ICY ROADS PUT CARS IN DITCH - Jackson Hill Closed, Temps Dropping

The Jackson Hill area on Route 16 north of Grantsville was ordered closed at 7:10 p.m. Sunday by the State Police with multiple vehicles in the ditch and vehicles blocking the roadway.

The road was closed for about one hour.

The Grantsville VFD responded to assist with the problem.

Vehicles were reported in the ditch at Mt. Zion, Grantsville and Liberty Hill.

The WVDOH continued to make road treatment sweeps throughout the evening.

With about an inch of snow, the roads turned hazardous in Calhoun and the region at sundown Sunday, as temperatures were predicted to drop to 14 degrees during the night.

A tractor-trailer was jack-knifed on a hill just north of the Big Otter I-79 exit on Rt. 16. The Upper West Fork VFD responded with the Big Otter VFD.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers after midnight. Lows around 14. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 50 percent.
