Parsons presented with a retirement pistol

Sheriff Allen D. Parsons ended his career in law enforcement with a surprise party last week at Hi-Rise Pizza, with family members and friends saying goodbye.

In addition to sharing a meal and cake, Parsons was presented with several retirement gifts, including a pistol, a clock and a knife.

Those in attendance wished Allen and his wife a long and happy retirement.

Sheriff leads his well-wishes in prayer

The Sheriff expressed his appreciation to the citizens of the county:

"I am retired as of January 1, 2005, and wish to sincerely thank the citizens of Calhoun County. for their trust and support during the last 18 1/2 years I served in public office."

"I want to thank each and everyone for the beautiful retirement gifts and for the surprise dinner."

"I pray that God will richly bless each of you for your kindness."
