MURDER CHARGE DROPPED AGAINST KELLEY

A murder charge against a former Spencer resident Daniel Kelley, 22, has been dropped. Roane County Magistrate Russell Goodwin said he could not find probable cause. Kelly was arrested in connection with the death of Jason Coon, 25, of Spencer on October 13. Coon was injured in a fight at Critchfield's Trailer Court, and died shortly thereafter. Chief Deputy Jeff Smith of the Roane County Sheriff's Office made the arrest. The magistrate said he reviewed the state's evidence and heard three witnesses, including the arresting officer. Reports indicate Coon died of head trauma, associated with a fight.
