BRAXTON FIRE VICTIMS IDENTIFIED

(12/10/2004)
Authorities have released the names of two elderly people killed in a fire in Braxton County over the weekend.

Braxton County Medical Examiner Bob Stalnaker has identified the victims from a fire last weekend.

They are 70-year-old Betty Lou Hamilton and 74-year-old Thomas Berry Johns, both had knee problems and limited mobility.

Stalnaker said they relied on wheelchairs, walkers and an electric scooter.

The fire at the couple's Frametown house has been ruled accidental, likely caused by an electrical short in an extension cord.
