Grace M. Pursley, 87, of Spencer

Grace M. Pursley, 87, of Spencer, died Thursday, December 8, 2004, in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.

She was born March 5, 1917, in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Edward E. and Myrtle Wilson Parsons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Pursley; three sisters, Olive Nichols, Sybil Jarvis and Mildred Anderson; two brothers, Willard Parsons and Gomer Parsons; three step grandchildren.

Mrs. Pursley was a Christian and a member of the Spencer Church of the Nazarene. She was a homemaker, caregiver and former employee of the G.C. Murphy Co., Spencer.

Survivors include two daughters, Melanie Bartlett and Dorotha Bartlett both of Spencer; three stepdaughters, Dessie Rhodes, Faye Looney and Cora Raines all of Spencer; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Tim Bess and the Rev. Leon Strickland officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, December 4.
