He was born December 16, 1929 in Kanawha County a son of the late William "Bud" and Martha Sweeney Walker. He was a US Navy veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Annalea Siers Walker; sons, Richard E. Jr. and Jennie Walker of Cottageville, WV, Curtis W. and Betsy Walker of Huntsville, AL, Phillip and Tricia Walker of Statesville and daughter, Amy Jo Walker of Statesville; four brothers, William Walker of Clendenin, WV, Bernard Walker of Okeechobee, FL, Donald Walker of Sandusky, OH, and Arthur Walker of Minnora, WV; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Vernida Chandler and Maxine Eagle and one daughter, Debra J. Walker. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
