Grantsville firemen make their way up muddy hollow

Cremo resident John Cash said a fire erupted in a building beside his house after he was awakened by two gunshots that went off under his window.

"It sounded like shotgun blasts," said Cash, who quickly discovered a large outbuilding was burning. "All my (deceased) dad's things were stored in the building, which was about 20 feet from the main dwelling.

Authorities said there was a gunfire incident at the Cash residence last week.

Trooper 1st Class Jeff Hunt (pictured left) and Sheriff Allen Parsons quickly responded to the scene, followed by the Grantsville VFD and Calhoun EMS.

Police were searching for individuals who could have been involved.

The building was fully engulfed when firemen arrived. Firemen were able to get two trucks up a muddy hollow, a short distance off Rowel's Run Road, four miles from Hur.

Police said they will continue investigating the incident.
