H. (David) Spencer, 73, of Parkersburg passed away Nov. 27, 2004, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born Aug. 31, 1931, at Tanner in Gilmer County, a son of the late Clemmie B. and Cora B. Smith Spencer.

Mr. Spencer's career was in the printing trade. He worked for 40 years, having first begun working for the Calhoun Chronicle at the age of 14, and having worked at various printing companies as printer pressman. He was a graduate of Calhoun County High School.

He retired from the Blennerhassett Hotel and served as a volunteer at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital for many years, and also volunteered at the West Virginia Travelers Center.

Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Frances E. Ayers Spencer; two sons, Jeff Spencer and his wife, Beverly, of Parkersburg and John Spencer and his wife, Amy, of Cokeburg, Pa.; six grandchildren, Ryan, Ethan, Jason, Stacy, Lucas and Benjamin; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil W. Spencer; and two sisters, Esther Woodford and Clara Cottrill.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, with Pastor Joe Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
