Richard Von Young, 86, of Elizabeth

Richard Von Young, 86, of Elizabeth passed away Thursday evening, Nov. 11, 2004, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center of Parkersburg.

He was born in Pee Wee, Wirt County, a son of the late James Price and Belva Dale Mundell. He was a lifetime farmer, a member of the Civil Air Patrol and a member of the Elizabeth Wirt Volunteer Fire Department. He was an office manager for Agricultural Soil Conservation Services from August of 1950 through February 1980.

Surviving are two sons, Richard "Pete" and Sharon Young of Elizabeth and Roger and Charolette Young of Palestine; two daughters, Neva Bell "Sue" and Roger Duncan of Shadyside, Ohio, and Belva and Steve Cline of Elizabeth; a brother, Bruce and Lucille Young of Elizabeth; eight grandchildren, Neva Diane Duncan, Loretta Beth Holliday, Scott Allen Duncan, Tim and Greg Young, Becky Carver and Mitch "Moose" Cline; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leota Bell Young, on Feb. 21, 1996; two brothers; and a sister.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home of Elizabeth with the Rev. William D. Stutler officiating. Burial will be in the Pisgah Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
