THREE SOLDIERS SERVING IN IRAQ LAID TO REST

A Marine who grew up in Barbour County died this week during the United State's attack on Fallujah, Iraq.

Corporal Romulo Jimenez died Wednesday in the battle to oust insurgents in Fallujah. He is one of about 20 US soldiers who died since Sunday.

His sister, Alexandra Evans, lives in Belington along with another sister and their mother. Evans says her brother lived and breathed the Marine Corps and died doing what he loved.

A Marine from Fairview in Marion County, who was killed in Iraq last month, was laid to rest this week.

Twenty-three-year-old Lance Corporal John Thomas Byrd the Second was buried by his family on Veterans Day with full military honors. He was killed October 30th along with seven other Marines by a suicide car bomb in Iraq.

Byrd's family was presented with a Purple Heart at his funeral.

An Oak Hill reservist is being remembered as a man who loved his family and country and who always had a helping hand to offer those who needed it.

Fifty-three-year-old Sergeant First Class Joe McVey will be remembered as a soldier and a leader.

The US Army Reservist was buried Thursday after becoming ill while serving a tour of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
