KANAWHA SCHOOL BOARD SHOOTER APPEALING - Richard Bright, the man convicted of shooting a teacher and dousing two other people with gasoline at a Kanawha County School Board meeting is wanting his sentence to be reduced.

Bright walked into a July, 2003, school board meeting and doused maintenance Supervisor Jeffery Allred and personnel official Karen Williams with gasoline. After failing to ignite the gasoline, Bright shot and wounded Capital High teacher Karen Taylor.

He received a sentence of seven to ten years.

NICHOLAS MAN WHO KILLED CAMPERS HAS BEEN SENTENCED - A Nicholas County man who murdered two men in the Monongahela National Forest has been sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison.

Twenty-five-year-old Michael Curry of Richwood shot and killed Douglas Young and Terence Conard at a camping spot on state Route 39 near Richwood, in 2002.

Curry and his co-defendant 21-year-old Christopher Chambers of Summersville went to the victims' camper to rob them of drugs.

Chambers is serving one life term.

MAN SHOOTS AFTER ARGUMENT - A 23-year-old Charleston man will spend six months in jail and six months on home confinement because he beat a woman in a city convenience store, then shot a man when the dispute spilled over into a the parking lot.

MERCER MAN SHOOTS AND STABS - A Mercer County man has been charged in connection with a Princeton murder. Sheriff's officials say 27-year-old James Tooley of Mercer County has confessed to shooting and killing 24-year-old Rashad Cosby last week. He then stabbed his own uncle during an altercation with two women. His uncle is recovering.

CHARLESTON MAN SHOOTS AT MOTORIST - A Charleston man was arrested last Thursday for allegedly shooting at a fellow motorist while driving a stolen car last month.

A juvenile, who was also charged, told police that he was driving around with Jack Adam Teel, 21, in a stolen red Hyundai Tiburon on Oct. 5 when they almost got in a wreck with a white van, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

After the van's driver yelled something at them, Teel stopped the car, pulled out a pistol and shot at the van, the complaint stated. The shooting happened at the intersection of Dutch Road and Crestview Drive. No injuries were reported.
