COMMISSION WILL HEAR TOWN HALL DILEMMA - Grants Will Be Reviewed, Wood Festival Needs Sponsorship

The Calhoun Commission meets at 9 a.m. today.

The agenda includes a discussion regarding the use of part of the old jail for the administrative offices of the Town of Grantsville.

Mayor Neil Blankenship will appear to discuss the option, related to the need to move from the current town hall which has been declared hazardous.

Grants that will be discussed include $35,000 recently received to build a walking trail around Wayne Underwood Field and improve the water and electrical systems to the facility.

Also on the agenda are other grant items related to the Yellow Creek/Back Fork water project and an application for a Courthouse Facilities Improvement Grant.

The Calhoun County Wood Festival will be asking the commission to sponsor their group for next year's event.

The commission will open bids for radio equipment being purchased through Homeland Security funds.

A discussion on the progress of the new 911 building at Mt. Zion.

There will be requests to appoint local people to boards and authorities, including Carol Sue Adkins and Heidi Allen to the Minnora Center Committee and Lisa Laughlin to the Solid Waste Authority.

Diane Ludwig will give a report from the LK Area Development Corporation.

The commission will likely decide to canvass Tuesday's election on November 8.

Routine business is on the agenda, including a proclamation for America Recycles Day.
