CALHOUN DEPUTY SHERIFF INJURED

Calhoun Deputy Sheriff Ron Bandy was injured about 3:30 a.m. Friday morning near the Big Otter-I-79 interchange.

There had reportedly been an altercation at closing time in a bar across the highway from an Exxon convenience store.

It was unclear how Bandy became involved or how he received injuries.

Several gunshots were reportedly fired near the bar sometime during the incident.

He was off-duty when the the incident took place.

He was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center by a Clay ambulance for treatment of a broken leg and other injuries, which he allegedly received during the altercation.

His condition was described as good.

State Police units reportedly responded from South Charleston, in addition to Sr. Trooper Jeff Hunt from the Grantsville Detachment.
