STOLEN DUMP TRUCK RETURNED TO OWNER

(10/29/2004)
A late model dump truck stolen from a Calhoun business was returned yesterday after it was discovered abandoned in Gilmer County.

Chief Deputy Sheriff Carl Ballengee said he understood the vehicle was not damaged.

"The stolen items like compressors and generators were not with the truck," said Ballengee.

Thieves broke into Creston Oil Company at Grantsville Tuesday night and took a 2004 dump truck which was used to haul the stolen equipment.

A company employee arrived about 6 a.m. to discover a door had been pried open, after which the employee made a call to authorities.
