Hester "Faye" Drake, 71 - Newton

Hester "Faye" Drake, 71, of Newton, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, October 22, 2004, at home, after an extended illness.

She was born March 14, 1933, at Amma, a daughter of the late Burl and Sarah Meadows Payne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Jim" Drake; one sister, Gatha McKown.

Mrs. Drake retired from Roane General Hospital/Health Focus as a physical therapy aide. She was a long time member of the Newton Baptist Church and loved to travel.

She is survived by four children, Robert "Bob" Drake of Williamsburg, VA, Kathy Matheney of Clover, Larry Drake and Anita Hunt both of Newton; four sisters, Madeline Tanner of Clio, Irene West of Parkersburg, Hazel Simmons of Linden and Deloris "Jeannie" Rugel of St. Albans; two brothers, Kenneth Payne of Gandeeville and Clifford Payne of Arkansas; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, October 24 at 2:00 p.m. in the Newton Baptist Church, Newton, with the Rev. Ron Fisher officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.

Friends may call at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, October 23 and at the church one hour before the funeral.
