ROANE MAN ADDED TO STATE ATV FATALITIES

Media reports indicate at least six state residents have died from ATV injuries in the past few weeks, and a dozen more have received injuries. A Roane County man, Gary Douglas Nichols, 47, has died from injuries he received in an ATV accident last Saturday. His ATV struck a tree in front of his house on Vandale Fork. Nichols had been in a motorcycle accident last March, both times he was airlifted to CAMC. Police had cited Nichols for DUI-2nd offense, driving while his license was suspended for DUI, riding without a helmet and other offenses, following the March accident. Funeral arrangements are being completed at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home.
