CLAY SHERIFF FIELDS RESIGNS UNEXPECTEDLY

Clay County Sheriff Harald Fields unexpectedly submitted his resignation to County Clerk Judy Moore yesterday. The Clay Communicator said Fields was dressed in blue denim and a vest, when he came to the courthouse to tender his resignation. Fields said his wife's medical condition prompted his resignation, he is hanging up the belt and badge at the end of this month. He said after 58 years of marriage, it was time to spend more time with his wife. Who will be appointed to two months of his unexpired term is uncertain.
