Mattie J. Fields, 79, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Tuesday, October 5, 2004, at her home. She was born February 22, 1925, at Kettle, Roane County, a daughter of the late Taylor and Icy Ray Parsons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Furman Edward Fields; long time companion, Loney A. Ferrell; one daughter; several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Fields was a homemaker, caregiver for the elderly and former employee of Poor Richard's Restaurant, Spencer. Survivors include four sons, Frank Fields of Sissonville; Howard, Rick and Larry Fields all of Spencer; two daughters, Martha Ferrell and Debbie Hall both of Spencer; 20 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, October 7 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating. Burial will be in the Billy Hunt Cemetery, Walton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday. www.taylorfuneralhomeinc.com
