NEW 4-H CLUB ORGANIZED ON WEST FORK - "Mountaineer" 4-H Officers Elected

The West Fork Mountaineers 4-H club held there first monthly meeting for the year on September 20th at the Minnora Community Center. New 4-H leader, Tammy Jett, was introduced and club officers were elected.

President-Ryan Ellison; Vice President-Jessica Cosgrove; Secretary- Dana Thomas; Treasurer-Amala Saum; Reporter-Kenzie Laughlin; Song Leader-Ricky Allen; Recreation/Game Leader-Jake Jett; Scrapbooker- Tyler Ellison.

The members chose their projects for the year and discussed upcoming events.

The group will be making apple butter on Saturday October 23rd. The funds from the sale of the apple butter will go to the 4-H fund. The evening of Saturday October 23rd the club will be having their annual Halloween party at the Mt. Zion Park from 7-9 p.m.

Club members will also be going around the community doing a 'frozen food sale'. Proceeds from the sale will benefit 4-H. The money will be used to help send the kids to 4-H camp.

Knickerbockers portraits is another fundraiser. For a small fee of $10 an individual can buy a coupon to have their picture taken with the Knickerbockers Portrait Co. The company takes beautiful portraits using different themes and settings and you can choose to have an "antique" look photo taken. The portraits will be taken on November 12th & 13th . The club would like to congratulate the following members for winning awards for their projects this past year.

Ashley Conley--3rd. place for project "Canine Connection" and 1st. place in county for poster on littering.

Jake Jett--3rd. place for project "Purrfect Pals"

Ricky Allen--1st. place for "Scrapbook"

The West Fork Mountaineers 4-H Club meets every third Monday at the Minnora Community Center. Anyone interested in joining may contact 4-H leader Tammy Jett at 655-7563.

The West Fork Mountaineers 4-H club would like to thank everyone who participated in the drawing for the quilt at the Molasses Festival.

The quilt was made by Tammy Jett, 4-H leader.

The club also sold apple butter, did face painting and sold certificates for Knickerbocker pictures.

All of the proceeds go to send kids to 4-H camp.
