WEST VIRGINIA KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - Man Collapses In Mother's House

(10/01/2004)
A Kanawha County man drove to his mother's house and collapsed after he was beaten and shot in the stomach on Charleston's West Side.

Police are still looking for suspects and a motive Wednesday afternoon for who shot Dennis Ray Baldwin, 32.

Family members had gathered for the evening meal when Baldin came through the door and fell to the floor.

"He came in holding his side and said 'I've been beaten in the head and shot,' then he fell to the floor," said his brother.

Two men reportedly approached Baldwin and assaulted him while he was in his Chevrolet minivan on 3rd Avenue.

Three people have survived stabbings in separate incidents in Kanawha County this week.

Cerissa Stokes, 22, of Roseberry Circle, was arrested Thursday afternoon after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, 19-year-old Aaron Campbell of Rand in the chest.

Shantona Harris, 27, was arrested after she reportedly stabbed her boyfriend, Steve Watkins, 34, of Charleston, in the chest area with a kitchen knife. Harris was charged with malicious wounding.

Michael Clay Smith, 29, was arrested on a malicious wounding charge after he allegedly stabbed Michael Shane Overbaugh below his left armpit.

Police said Smith used a double-edged, boot-type knife while the two fought at Smith's residence.

All three suspects were being held in the South Central Regional Jail.
