LEAVES TURNIN' OUT THE HUSK

(09/30/2004)

In a few more days, the Calhoun woods will shine with autumn glory

A trip out the Husk and around the Joker Ridge confirms Fall is here. Leaves are turning, slowly, although some trees are already in their full glory.

Peak in Sunny Cal is in two to three weeks.

However, Division of Forestry officials say leaves appear to be changing colors more slowly than in recent years.

The the greater Richwood area in Nicholas County is near 50% of peak color.

Pocahontas County and Randolph County are near 50%.

The Division of Forestry says farm roads in Marion, southern Marshall, Taylor and Wetzel counties are beautiful drives.

A visit to Coopers Rock State Forest in Monongalia County will provide a view of beautiful yellows and reds.
