WOMAN CHARGED IN OVERDOSE DEATH OF ROANE YOUTH - Ferguson Acquitted In Infant's Death

(09/30/2004)
Another murder case has surfaced in Roane County.

Twenty-two-year-old Crystal Coon of Gay has been indicted for the alleged drug death of 18-year-old Benjamin Murray of Reedyville on March 5.

She is accused of providing methadone to Murray, which reportedly led to his death.

Murray's brother, 20-year old Nathan Murray, died several months earlier following a brutal clubbing at a Spencer bar. Despite the confrontation, authorities ruled that the elder Murray also died of a drug overdose.

A court has acquitted Dreu Ferguson Jr. of Spencer on charges related to the death of his infant son. Ferguson remains in jail without bond on a charge which alleges he shot his neighbor, William Freas III, while Freas was sitting on his porch in downtown Spencer.
