(09/27/2004)
Dean Hupp, past president of the Field Archery Club (pictured left) and dozens of archery groups, is one of the USA's best known tournament winners and archery experts.

He returned to his native Calhoun yesterday to give a free archery seminar to the Nobe archery club.

"What I most enjoyed doing is teaching archery," said the 72-year-old Hupp, a graduate of Calhoun High with the Class of 1951. He spent his early days on Hog Knob, a short distance from Grantsville.

"I have enjoyed teaching archery the most," said Hupp

He has trained instructors and master coaches across the U.S. and Europe.

"Coming back to visit with my fellow Calhouners has been a real treat," he concluded.
