CLAY CITIZENS THREATEN VIGILANTE JUSTICE

(09/14/2004)
About 100 outraged Clay County residents turned out to a community meeting last night at Clay High School to vent their frustration on a growing crime problem in the area.

Many of the citizens told elected officials and local law enforcement they are going to take control of crime into their own hands - vigilante justice.

Citizens have been up in arms over the amount of criminal activities going on in the county.

The Clay Communicator quoted one lady who said there are more crank houses in the county than church houses.

The Clay County Sheriff's Department has suffered some recent cutbacks.
