911 BUILDING SHOWS PROGRESS - County Radio System Being Upgraded

(09/14/2004)

Progress is being made on the construction of Calhoun's new 911 center, located on the school board's campus at Mt. Zion. The center will house electronic equipment and have an operating space for the local Office of Emergency Services.

Funds are expected to be forthcoming for the completion of the interior of the building and the construction of an adjacent radio tower.

A recent $50,000 Homeland Security grant is being used for the purchase of console equipment and updates for the new center, in addition to mobile radio equipment for county law enforcement and the Town of Grantsville.

The Calhoun County Board of Education gave a 99-year lease for the property at no charge.
