BIG BEND BROTHERS ARRESTED AFTER THREATENING OFFICER - Incident Followed Dog Complaint

(08/31/2004)
What started as a complaint about a dog ended in the arrest of two Big Bend men, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department.

Deputy Ron Bandy has charged Terry Todd Williams with resisting arrest and obstructing an officer and his brother Robert Williams with assault and obstructing an officer. Both were taken to Central Regional Jail following the incident last week.

Bandy said he went to the residence of Omagene Williams to discuss the dog complaint, at which time her son Terry Todd Williams reportedly became agitated and "started to curse," ordering the officer to get off his property.

Deputy Bandy, according to the report, said he advised Williams he was there to talk with his mother, after which the man "squared off and said - - - - you, in a fighting stance."

When Williams continued to create a problem, he was placed under arrest and then attempted to run away from the officer. Deputy Bandy called 911 for assistance when other individuals described as family members arrived on the scene.

Terry Todd Williams' brother, Robert Williams, according to the report, stated he was going in the house to get a gun. Deputy Bandy said he "believed that the defendant (Robert Williams) intended to commit violent injury" to him. Robert Williams was arrested on the charges the following day.

The incident took place last Wednesday evening on Big Root Road off State Route 5.

Both cases are pending in Calhoun magistrate court.
